Painted Sunrise Saddle Club
March 22, 2011 Meeting

After enjoying great appetizers and socializing, the meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by President Rachel Lusk.

In attendance were: Sheri Lusk, Rachel Lusk, Erica Valters, Martha Northwick, Jaynee Birkeland, Lisa Birkeland, Surie Burgess, Samantha Kent, Amy Rastetter, Rex Kent, Don Gunness, Marth Northwick, Cindy Northwick, Bob Lundquist, Ruth Lundquist.

Secretary Ruth Lundquist read the minutes to the last meeting. Martha Northwick motioned for the approval of the mintues and Amy Rastetter seconded.

Treasurer Laurie Burgess reported: After receiving membership dues and paying expenses to Cindy Northwick for Christmas prizes and Ruth Lundquist for mailing costs, we now have a total of $392.41

The Overnighter is October 7-9. We now have reserved 8 campsites. The cost is $20 a night. There are now electrical hookups, if you wish, at $5 a night. Please contact Laurie or Steve Burgess to sign up for the overnighter.

Activities Committee:

1. The committee of Don Gunness, Rachel Lusk and Laurie Burgess will be planning a Spring Fun Show and will report back to the club at the next meeting if not before, through e-mails.

2. We discussed having organized trail rides and decided that it would be better to have an informal system of people who are going on trail rides to send out e-mails with information for anyone to join them. If you don't have a group mailing list, please send the information to one of the following people and they will pass it along: Ruth Lundquist, Laurie Burgess or Rachel Lusk.

3. Tammy Whyte clinic: Erica Valters said that Tammy would be holding regular lessons at the arena in Glenwood City. Currently, Tammy is on the barrel racing tour; Erica will talk to her when she gets back into town.

Membership Chair Ruth Lundquist passed out a membership list and asked everyone to check for errors. We have 22 paid members. The WSCA web site has been updated with the members' information. Ruth reminded people that any new member must be added before May 31. Ruth distributed copies of the membership list to everyone.

WSCA: Cindy Northwick reported on the WSCA meeting. There were several items to report. Some of them were:
To compete at the State Fair you will need a Tax ID, entries will not be accepted before June 20th, WSCA competitors will not be allowed to come in before Friday at 10:00 p.m. There will be changes to the use of the camping and trailering lots. If you need more information on the meeting, please contact Cindy Northwick.

Royalty: Queen Julia Northwick submitted an article for the April Spotlight; Princess Sammi Kent will submit an article for May and Jr. Princess Jaymee Birkeland will submit an article for June. Cindy Northwick purchased 2 new crowns for the Princess and Jr. Princess. Ruth Lundquist motioned that the club reimburse her for her purchase, Laurie Burgess seconded it.

Sunshine: Former member Kathy Fournelle has recently had 2 surgeries -- one to her wrist and one on her knee. A get well card will be sent. Ruth Lundquist asked that everyone help keep her in the loop about members' illnesses so she won't miss anyone.

Old Business: Ruth Lundquist reported that the web site has been updated. Members are asked to check their bios for errors and any additional updates.

New Business: We reviewed the various committee membership and are set for the year. We discussed the new Face Book Painted Sunrise link. Martha will get the information so that Rachel Lusk and Ruth Lundquist can access it to post information.


Announcements:

Cindy reported that her horse, Vegas, died of Potomac Fever. She also described the custom made Dream Catcher that she had made from Vegas' mane and tail. Several people were interested in getting information on the woman that made this for her. Please contact Cindy Northwick if you need more information.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:00 p.m. in Hudson at Amy Rastetter and Martha Northwick's home. Desserts will be the theme. Martha asked not be bring cheese cake but Amy said she would welcome cheese cake.

Amy Rastetter motioned for the end of the meeting and Mark Northwick seconded. The meeting ended at 8:22 p.m.
